I'm quite pleased with the Adidas Stan Smith's that I picked up about a week ago for under $40.  I've had them for a full week now and still breaking them in.  At closer inspection these look and feel like classic oxford dress shoes and have a thick leather upper and tongue mated to the rubber sole.  As a result, they are taking a while to break in. Sizing I went with a size 9 1/2 and while they are snug, I'm sure as they stretch out a bit they will be perfect and worth the wait than sizing up to a 10.  If you don't plan on wearing them too often, then size them up as it'll take a while to break them in. Most people also seem to make a similar recommendation to go up a size on the Stan Smith's.  I normally follow that advice as my right foot is slightly wider than my left and usually I rate a shoe on how comfortable it feels on my right side. It's natural we will eventually compare the two classic Adidas shoes the Stan Smith and the Superstar.  Both are popular, respected and worth a look.  They are no longer relevant for their respective sports of tennis and basketball and are more a fashion accessory, but still very functional as a casual wear shoe. I'll compare and rate these shoes on the following categories: Style Comfort Build Durability Function Overall Style - Stan Smith Both are casual shoes and go well with most casual outfits.  Baggier clothes, especially jeans seem to go well with the Superstar and slim or regular cut clothes do best with the Stan Smith.  I find the Stan Smith fit better with shorts than the Superstar that feel chunkier on the feet. Comfort - Superstar The inner lining of the Superstars are plush and it took barely a day to break them in, while the Stan Smith's are going on over a week and still give my right foot some pain.
