Air Jordan 1 Low - Pastels - 10.5M

Bought another pair of Air Jordan 1 Lows as I wanted to test if the foot pain I’m suffering is due to wearing a size too small in 9.5M and moved up to 10.5M. So far I have zero foot pain and think it really was wearing shoes that are too small for my feet.  Air Jordan 1's do not stretch, fit for comfort The Air Jordan 1's do not stretch so if your gonna wear these, wear them for the size you feel comfortable and I also went in the afternoon after having walked for 3 miles in the morning so my feet were likely swollen to the largest they would be during a typical day. Uncomfortable Shoes are a big deal You have no idea how big a deal it is to wear comfortable shoes.  The 9.5M Air Jordan 1's Mid & Lows, Court Vision and Converse were making me miserable and it made my whole life miserable.  All I had to do was go up a size in my shoes, and done.  And if you look at the pics the difference in size between a 9.5M and a 10.5M is quite small and for me it's not the length

Shoe Collection 2023

I’ve centered around Nike’s as my shoe of choice coming around from Onitsuka Tigers to Adidas and now Air Jordan’s. I want to maintain a set rotation of shoes: Air Jordan 1 Low - Red/White/Black- 9.5M Air Jordan 1 Low - gray/White/Black/Pastels - 10.5M Air Jordan 1 Mid - 9.5M Miler’s - 10M Shoes for special occasions: Air Force 1 Low - 9M With some insoles my older shoes might feel more comfortable and I’ll test it on the Court Vision.  I’d like to take a break and not buy new shoes until 2024 and likely a new pair of Air Force 1’s. I’m impressed with the Jordan 1’s.  They’ve now served me across Tokyo, Busan and more. To make room for more shoes.  I’ll wear out the Court Vision’s.  As I think all my shoes are too small and need to go up to a 10 from a 9.5.  So might as well use em all up! Update - 6/11/13 - Bought larger 10.5M AJ1 Lows and wow it was too small my previous shoes I couldn’t take it anymore and was making me miserable so I went for a full size bigger to 10.5M and wow the

Nike Air Jordan 1 Low vs Air Force 1 shoes

I’m surprised so few people have posted comparisons between these two iconic shoes: Air Jordan 1 Low Air Force 1 ‘07 Both are basketball shoes and famous in their own right and they share similar price points of $110 with comparable materials and build qualities. Versatility - Air Force 1 I give it to Air Force 1’s.  In Triple White colorway it can match so many outfits and styles… A close second are Jordan 1’s in certain colorways can make a bland outfit really pop.  The one exception, Air Force 1's look better with baggy jeans as they are a chunkier shoe profile.  Jordan 1's can pair with slimmer jeans. Comfort - Air Force 1 I’ll have to break in the leather on the Jordan 1’s as they are stiffer than Air Force 1’s.  But with the thicker sole and air unit my feeling Air Force 1’s will win out for long haul treks.   I'm sure after the stiff leather on the Jordan 1's break-in it'll be just as comfortable as the Air Force 1's and remind me of breaking in a pair of

Nike Air Jordan 1 Low - Red/White/Black

Went with a classic colorway of Red/White/Black with my first pair of Air Jordan 1 Low.  I’ve always wanted a pair of AJ1’s for quite some time; ever since I tried a pair of Air Force 1’s made me curious about the Air Jordan’s. I’m glad I waited as initially I was going to get a pair of Mid’s, but decided the Low’s are more versatile and can match more outfits in my wardrobe. Looking forward to wearing them and seeing how they go.  I’m anticipating buying a few more Air Jordan’s as I want different color ways. Future Planned AJ1’s Green/White/Black Black/White UNC Blue/White Purple/White/Yellow — LA Lakers Red/White Undecided if they will be High, Mid’s or Low’s.  Types of materials and so on…I’ll figure that out in future years. Collecting shoes is kinda fun. 6 months later these AJ1’s have traveled the globe

Nike - Court Vision Low - White/Blue 9.5

Bummed on the quality of Adidas having gone through my 3rd pair and all wore out within a year.  Both Superstars developed a hole on the right foot on the outer side below the little toe; the tailor’s bunion.  The Stan Smith’s developed tears on the upper sole. I’m going to give Nike another go and added a pair of Court Vision Low to minimize usage of my AF1’s and also to prepare me for eventually a pair of Jordan 1’s. Court Vision vs AF1 The closest comparison I have are with the Air Force 1’s and the Court Vision are a cheaper version.  Build quality looks coarse and I don’t have confidence it’ll hold up as well as the AF1, but at 1/2 the price, it’ll do fine as a beater pair of white shoes. I’ll see how they go and likely go for a pair of Jordan 1 Low in the classic red/white/black color way.  From what people are saying go either lows or highs on Jordan 1’s as mids build quality might not be up to par. 2021 - Upping the Sneaker Game

I began my quest of building a sneaker collection in 2019 and focused on the basic classics.  I’m now feeling confident to venture into the larger $100-$200 segment that brings me into the orbit of Air Jordan’s, Air Max and quite a few famous Nike’s. Current Collection: White - Adidas - Stan Smith // Size 9.5 White - Converse - All Star // Size 9.5 White - Nike - Air Force 1 // Size 9 Black - Nike - Miler React // Size 10 The AF 1’s are my special pair.  Nike Miler’s and Stan Smith’s are my daily drivers.  Stan Smith and All Star’s for casual outfits.  Miler’s also double duty for trainers. Very versatile set with 4 pairs. Retired Shoes: Adidas - Superstar Puma - Suede Red - Onitsuka - Serrano // Size 9.5 Future Acquisitions: Nike - Air Jordan 1 Nike - Air Max 90 Nike - Air Force 1 (New colorway) Adidas - Superstar (New replacement) I’m still debating what to get and in what colorways, but focusing on and therefore researching Air Jordan’s and Air Max’s.  These would become my new spec

Nike React Miler Running Shoes

I had to retire the Adidas Superstar’s and for a while survived with the Adidas Stan Smith’s, but both are for fashion. For work I have to be on my feet for several hours at a time making both Adidas shoes painfully impractical. React Foam Enter the Nike React Miler’s.  These have an insane amount of React foam cushion in the sole and I can feel it squish with every step.  They feel absolutely amazing on foot and I can see these ideal for endurance. From what I’ve learned, React was Nike’s response to Adidas Boost technology.  Boost was first to market and gained fame that hit its apex with Kanye West’s collaboration on the Yeezy line, but has since fell out of popularity. No clear reasons given other than they lacked a ‘story’ like many legendary Nike’s from the AF1, Air Jordan’s or Air Max 90’s. Which is unfortunate as Adidas has several storied shoes of their own with the Stan Smith’s and Superstars. Pricing for Ergonomics They normally retail for $130, but I found them for $100 and

Cleaning White Shoes

One of the obvious downsides of owning white shoes…they get dirty and require regular cleaning to make them look decent again. I'm still learning and before I move up to nicer pairs of kicks, I went for some classics that are also very affordable to use for practice and for now using only home cleaning agents like detergent or bleach. Cleaning Schedule (Daily & Monthly) I have a two (2) part cleaning schedule and daily, I wipe down any white shoes I've been wearing to minimize any dirt or grime having a chance to set in and become a stain. Monthly, I do a deeper clean for any white shoes that I've worn regularly or are starting to look really dirty.  A deep clean for me involves removing the laces and cleaning each component of the shoe separately. Cleaning Methods The laces so far have done okay with just soap & water then a soak in a bleach solution. For the shoes, depending on the material (leather, pleather, canvas, etc) I usually wash with detergent and water.

Adidas - Stan Smith’s Review

I'm quite pleased with the Adidas Stan Smith's that I picked up about a week ago for under $40.  I've had them for a full week now and still breaking them in.  At closer inspection these look and feel like classic oxford dress shoes and have a thick leather upper and tongue mated to the rubber sole.  As a result, they are taking a while to break in. Sizing I went with a size 9 1/2 and while they are snug, I'm sure as they stretch out a bit they will be perfect and worth the wait than sizing up to a 10.  If you don't plan on wearing them too often, then size them up as it'll take a while to break them in. Most people also seem to make a similar recommendation to go up a size on the Stan Smith's.  I normally follow that advice as my right foot is slightly wider than my left and usually I rate a shoe on how comfortable it feels on my right side. Style These are one of the classics and has a more svelte profile making them fit almost any outfit.  I would rate th

Adidas - Stan Smith vs Superstar

It's natural we will eventually compare the two classic Adidas shoes the Stan Smith and the Superstar.  Both are popular, respected and worth a look.  They are no longer relevant for their respective sports of tennis and basketball and are more a fashion accessory, but still very functional as a casual wear shoe. I'll compare and rate these shoes on the following categories: Style Comfort Build Durability Function Overall Style - Stan Smith Both are casual shoes and go well with most casual outfits.  Baggier clothes, especially jeans seem to go well with the Superstar and slim or regular cut clothes do best with the Stan Smith.  I find the Stan Smith fit better with shorts than the Superstar that feel chunkier on the feet. Comfort - Superstar The inner lining of the Superstars are plush and it took barely a day to break them in, while the Stan Smith's are going on over a week and still give my right foot some pain. I would gladly opt for the Superstar's for any long soj

Adidas Superstars - 3000 miles, 18 months and still going

I purchased a pair of Adidas Superstars around June 2019 for a mere $20 and have been wearing them continuously for almost 18 months, almost daily since COVID hit hard.  The shoes have been beaten up and lost all of its cushioning in the soles, but otherwise are still functional and chugging along. A tear formed on the outer side of the left shoe and was likely due to me being too harsh when trying to clean the shoes one day, otherwise it should have remained intact. With the exception of the tear and the lack of cushioning (the soles likely collapsed over time) the shoes are still wearable and I use them daily at least 5-6 days a week with an average 6-10 miles of walking on surfaces with mostly dry conditions and only an occasional wet pavement or puddle. Over 3000 miles! By my estimates I've worn them for about 3,096 miles (18 months * 4.3 weeks * 5 days = 387 days * 8 miles = 3,096 miles) and its likely due to mostly flat and smooth surfaces like concrete, tile, wood and carpet

Rocking the Nike - Air Force 1's

The Air Force 1's are nice and I'm glad I waited until after I tried wearing the Adidas Superstar and Converse All Star.  I used those cheaper shoes as a way to practice and figure out how to keep white shoes clean. The easiest method is to simply wipe them down as soon as you can after each use and since I wear the Air Force 1's at most once a week and generally on the weekends, that habit of wiping them down is not too bad. I keep the Adidas as my knock about pair and I never realized how dirty they are until I place them side-by-side with the fresh looking Air Force 1's. Believe, I am now hooked on nice sneakers and probably looking to replace the Superstars in a year or so with the Stan Smith's.  Another classic. For Reference, I wear size 9 1/2 on both the Adidas and Converse, but went a step down to a 9 on the Nike's and they still feel a bit loose.  The Adidas at first felt snug, but now feel loose at 9 1/2 and I'll try the Stan Smith someday in a 9.

New Sneaker Kicks - Cortez, Air Force 1, Tiger 66 or Puma Suede

There are so many options and choices in sneakers and I want to build a simple collection of all the great basics: Converse - Chuck Taylor - All Stars White/Red Stripe Adidas - Superstar - White/Black Stripes Nike Cortez - White/Red Logo Onitsuka Tiger  Mexico 66 White/Red/Blue Nike Air Force 1 Low Cut - All White Puma Suede - Black/White Stripe White & Black Pretty much it'll be 5 white and 1 black shoe for the basics.  Although, I may reduce this count to 3 white and 1 black. More Colorways Additional colorways will be handled by my 2 Onitsuka Tiger Serrano's (Blue, Red) and when they are retired I'll replace them with comparable shoes in likely a Burgundy Red New Balance and maybe all-Black Converse, Adidas Superstar or Air Force 1's. 2-3 Years to Build I'm in no rush and it'll likely take 2-3 years to fill out this collection as I have ample shoes already and will only buy something when I'm ready to replace something.  Probably

Converse All Stars vs. Adidas Superstar

White shoes are one of the most versatile items in any wardrobe.  They are about as essential as blue jeans or a black or white T-Shirt.  Granted, white shoes require additional maintenance to keep clean, but are worth the effort considering their utility. I've owned several pairs of white sneakers over the years between the classics of Nike, Adidas, Converse, Reebok and more, but never really maintained a set after one wore out.  I previously, would keep just one pair of sneakers, no matter the color. I've since remedied that and embarked on establishing a basic set of the major classics and two of the most iconic are the: Converse All Stars Adidas Superstar Both come in a variety of colorways, but the ones primarily in white are the ones you would want to invest in first, before trying out new color options.  Both models are so popular, you can easily find them on sale periodically or at a discount retailer. I got the Converse for about $40 and the Adidas for $20.  Making the
