Trip Photo Journal

Day 1 - Waco - Austin

Took 2.5 hours to arrive in Waco from Dallas due to traffic.  Normally should take 2 hours for 125 miles.

Ate lunch at Magnolia Markets.  Club Sandwich, chicken was good.  Pork was on the dry side, still tasty.

Continued to Austin and traffic was awful, coming to a standstill so took me 3 hours what should only take 90 minutes.  Left 2:30 pm from Waco and arrived 5:40 pm in Austin.

Dinner was at Ramen Tatsu-ya.  Broth is very rich and it’s good, but could only handle 1 bowl of this.  Ordered the OG Tonkatsu.

Day 2 - Austin - San Antonio

Breakfast was at Hampton Inn.  I like staying at 3 Star Hotels in Texas, they are decent and a good deal for the price.  Paid $100 a night.

This was a decent breakfast.  I’m satisfied if they offer eggs, meat and a starch.  They also have waffles that were delicious, some of the best and they are free.

Room was decent.  Parking is free.  The hotel is dated, but it’s fine.

Cruised Umlauf statue garden and downtown.

Decided to be lazy and had Starbucks for coffee fix at Domain.

Lunch was Miyo’s.  Came here last year and didn’t disappoint with their reasonably priced lunch bento set.

Before I left Austin.  Checked out Boba 🧋 at Chi Cha San Chen.  This is legit good.  Worth a stop!

Traffic was better than previous day, but still took me extra 30 minutes so 2 hours to reach San Antonio when it should take 90 minutes.

Dinner at D&B’s was actually good.  Mojito and Margaritas on famous River Walk in River Center Mall.  Queso was decent as well as the drinks.

Wanted a night cap and enjoyed some beer.  Forgot to take a pic.  Had a Stella.

Day 3 - San Antonio - River Walk
Free hotel breakfast.  Always delicious when they offer bacon & eggs.  Hash brown and oatmeal.  They also have the Texas shaped waffles.

Cruised around River Walk.  Then Tex Mex for lunch at El Castillo.  The chips & salsa were amazing and this is a must have for anyone who likes good Tex Mex food for a low price too.

Relaxed a bit at the hotel and enjoyed a beer.

For dinner went to Ostra for oysters, calamari and more Margaritas and beer.  Happy Hour is a great deal here.

Hotel had free beer and food so I opted for a salad as I was already full.  Salad was delicious.

Had more beer.  Decided today I’ll enjoy.

Day 4 - Dallas

I enjoyed another free hotel breakfast.  Biscuits & gravy is always a treat and the salsa is perfect with eggs.  Was tempted to eat another plate.

Hit the road and was smooth sailing to Dallas.  Pit stopped at Buc’ees for gas and lunch.  Was in Dallas by 3:30 pm.

Trip#4 for 2023 - Vegas Weekend - In general Vegas sucks

Final leg of my 2 week vacation is a weekend in Vegas.  Arrived Thursday night and went to a couple casino bars and met up with friends.  I’ll hit up the buffet then Shin Lim magic show before heading back home. Day 1 - Arrival, Downtown - Golden Nugget - Decent Day 2 - Vegas Strip - Caesars Bacchanal Buffet - Crap Day 3 - Shin Lim @ Mirage - Meh Day 4 - Departure Overall - Vegas is Meh unless you spend big. Overall Vegas is no longer worth it unless you plan to spend at least $500-1,000 per day minimum for a good hotel, food and entertainment.   I spent $1200 for food, hotel, transportation and a show for a mediocre experience.  You would think I’d get something good out of that?   Only highlights was 1 amazing Old Fashioned at Alto Bar in Caesars.  A decent magic show and that's about it.  Only $100 of what I spent was worth it, the other $1100 was a waste. 1st Day - Flight into LAS from LAX, Stayed Downtown at Golden Nugget I first flew into LAX on ANA and got to ride on the Sta
